Whether you travel with a camper or just with a tent, you will have to spend the night on a campsite. Indeed, Croatia hasn’t really developed yet rest areas for motorhomes, and wild camping is forbidden.

At the moment there are only 7 rest areas for motorhomes on the coast: in Motovun and Sveti Lovreč in Istria, on the island of Krk in the Kvarner, and in Novalja, Zadar, Skradin and Bol in Dalmatia. For the rest you will have to spend the night on a campsite.

You will find campsites all over Croatia, but most of them are situated in the most tourist places, on the coast and on the islands.

Most campsites are located along the coast just by the beach.

There are more than 300 campsites all over the country, that gives you a wide choice for your next vacation. So how to choose?

From the small family campsites by the beach, to the huge campsites with mobile homes, swimming-pool, offering entertainment and the practice of different sports, the choice you make will have an influence on the way you’ll spend your holidays.
If you are looking for quietness and relaxing on the beach then choose a small camp by the sea. If you are camping with children and you are afraid that they’ll get bored, then you will find especially in Istria large campsites where everything is organized for them. But do not expect to be alone…

Should you book the campsite before arriving, or will you always find an available plot once there?
Of course it’s always better to book before your arrival. But in general you will always find a free plot, even in July and August. If however the campsite is full do not worry, there is for sure a campsite nearby that will have availability.

If you prefer naturist campsites you will also find some in Croatia.

Whatever campsite you are interested by, you will find the whole list on with all the information relating to each campsite, prices and for some of them the possibility to book online.

And finally let’s talk about the rates, even if it really depends on the category of the campsite, its location, the distance to the beach, the services it offers, so it is difficult to talk about prices. But to give you an idea expect to pay between 5 and 15 euros per day for the camping plot, and 6 to 7 euros per day per person.
